The Maserati Ghibli (Tipo 115) was introduced by Maserati in 1967. The Ghibli became the most popular Maserati since Maserati’s withdrawl from racing in the 1950’s, competing against the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 (Daytona) and the Lamborghini Miura.
The Ghibli’ was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, working at Ghia. The car was powered by a DOHC 310 bhp V8 engine. It had a 0-100 km/h time of less than 7 seconds, a top speed of 248 km/h and was available with either a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission.
The convertible Ghibli Spider was launched in 1969, the year in which the more powerful Ghibli SS (335 hp) also was released. Production of the Ghibli ended in 1973.
1,170 Coupes and 125 Spiders (including 25 Spider SS) were produced.
